Tell us about your morning faces... What's the story behind project?

I started the morning faces pictures January 1, 2011 and stopped on December 31, 2011. As an artist, I need to give myself challenges. The first I gave myself was to do a project a month. And since I do a lot of performance in my art, I was looking to do something over a long time period. And the idea just came to mind: to take a picture of myself every morning as I wake up.



Do you have any other special photo projects planned?

As far as the morning faces project, I am done. The book is printed and almost ready to ship, and I am happy it's over. I mean, I was glad to do it, but I am happy that I don't have to impose a flash on my face every morning. I have other projects in the works. One is a collective of 12 artists and non-artists, again about identity, and I also have another projects in the works with Polaroid.



Tell us about your career.

I still work on a project a month, and I try to sell as much art as possible because it finances other projects during the year. As an artist, I work mostly with video, but also in performance, photography, sculpture and installations. As far as a job, I work in a television station as a talent booker. It pays the bills, it's fun and I get to meet a lot of other inspiring artists.


Do your co-workers know about your sexual side?

I don't think so. I mean they know I am gay, but anything else sex related they don't know. I'm still figuring out some stuff that I love and don't love, so it's none of their business.


Have you ever had oral sex with anyone at work or school, or in any connection with your career or projects?

Never. I mean I've had sex with someone who eventually bought art from me, but that doesn't count. Exes buy my work.
